Carly Almon -
Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap & Contemporary Instructor
Carly Almon comes to us from Oshawa, Ontario where she has spent the majority of her life training in dance! Carly began her dance education at the young age of four years old with Heartbeat of Dance. At the young age of eight years old Carly was invited to join the competitive team. Carly loved dancing so much she jumped at the chance!
Since Carly joined competitive dance she has been honoured with many awards, some of which have been; the Wow Award, Pump it Award, Facial Award as well as the Over the Edge Award. At the competition Jump Shout and Boogie, Carly was chosen out of hundreds of young ladies to receive the scholarship to Dance Fusion where she had the opportunity to train with some of Toronto's finest! In 2006 Carly made the next step in her dance training and joined Step with Style (SWS) Dance Productions. This new style of training pushed Carly to new limits and she has achieved many milestones as a performer! Carly has enhanced her skills in all areas of dance - hip hop, tap jazz, lyrical, ballet, acro and more! This has transformed her into the well rounded performer she is today. In the 2009/2010 Competitive season, Carly was honoured with receiving a full Hip Hop scholarship at O.I.P. training with Danny Davalos with whom she became an assistant to, and other well-known choreographers from Toronto.
As a choreographer Carly's work has been highlighted in the So You Think You Can Dance Mentos room. She has also choreographed opening routines for both Step with Style's recital performance-managing 90 students on one stage, as well as the Neutron Fitness and Sports Organization promoting a drug free future for youth.
Although Carly has won numerous solo awards she prides herself on creating strong team members for SWS. Her motivating attitude makes everyone around her want to be a part of her dance team! It is this attitude Carly wishes to share with her young students, because being a part of a great team makes dance so much fun!
