Ballet, Tap and Jazz Instructor
Heather Humphries comes to us from Bowmanville Ontario. She has over a decade of experience in the performing arts industry. Traveling throughout Ontario as a competitive dancer, instructor and choreographer Heather has entertained many audiences and touched many lives with her warm and loving teaching approach.
Heathers training includes an array of established instructors and choreographers. She has had the pleasure of training under Natasha Gibson- Owner and Co Director of Breakthrough Dance Challenge, Debbie Wilson- Artistic Director of the Ontario Ballet Theatre and Owner/ Director of OMO Dance Projects, Shawn Bayfield- Adjudicator and Owner/Director of Thrive (Toronto's Hottest Hip Hop Company) and Carol Forrest President of Stop Tyme Productions. She was also privileged to train under the direction of Twitch –SYTYCD finalist & hip hop extraordinaire, Mandy Moore- renowned contemporary choreographer for SYTYCD, and Theresa Howard Ballet Master for Alvin Ailey.
SWS is proud to say Miss Humphries is also an SWS triple threat Graduate. Training under the direction of Amanda Coatham, Sasha Chifman- Artistic Directors of Step with Style- and the rest of their talented faculty.
Heather has been hired on as a performer for Fiesta Week, Promotional shows for dance studios as well as participated as a part of the cast for the Santa Claus Parade Jazz performance. Heather also enjoyed her time playing the lead role of Governor Swan in "Pirates of The Caribbean; The Curse of The Black Pearl" in 2008. Currently Heather is proud to be involved with Toronto’s own “Women in Dance” annual performance.
Not only is Heather a graduate of the SWS triple threat program she has spent over a year training directly under Artistic Directors Amanda and Sasha in their Instructors course for all ballet, jazz, and tap. Heather has an in depth understanding of the Syllabi and standards of Step with Style. Specializing in the instruction of dancers ages two through to adult, Heather has trained to instruct these ages specifically in their Novice years through to adulthood. Her loving nature combined with her years of performing arts education make her an unbelievable instructor for all ages.
As acting Recreational Director Heather over sees our entire recreational program! Not only does she meet weekly with our faculty to discuss all students progress and organize the phenomenal recreational year end performance, she is also in touch with our recreational families on a regular basis. Miss Humphries ensures the quality and integrity of the Recreational Program is always impeccable. All of our recreational families are in great hands!
