Galaxy Of The Stars - May 11th - 13th 2007

Step with Style's Competitive team traveled to Hamilton to compete with some of the top dance schools in Ontario at Galaxy Of The Stars! Students had the chance to be adjudicated Katy Spreadbury, Gary Coburn and Natasha Gibson! All three judges are sought after in the adjudication as well as the instruction field of the performing arts. Every student performed their absolute best and we are proud of all of them!

Throughout the competition our studio earned Specialty Awards, Choreography Awards as well as 17 first place awards, 13 second place awards, and 1 third place award. Many of our soloists earned marks that were over 90!

Specialty Awards

In order to receive a specialty award a dancer or group must take make quite an impression on the adjudicator. Every adjudication the selected judge chooses the routines that caught their attention and presents the awards. These awards could be given for a number of reasons, but any dancer or group that receives a specialty award should feel very honoured! The judge takes time to explain to the audience why they thought the dancer or group of dancers stood out to them. Dancers on Step with Style's competitive team stood out yet again! Four of our soloists received specialty awards from the adjudicators! Congratulations to the following dancers!

Tremendous Tendues!

Megann McCandless 6 yrs Novice
Ballet Solo "Chinese Tea"
Natasha Gibson was very impressed when Megann began her ballet solo with a tendues stretched right out to the ends of her toes! Nash could not believe the strength of Step with Style's young soloists feet! Young Megann has a very bright future!

Terrific Timing!

Kayla Coatham 7yrs Tap Solo "Kansas City"
Natasha Gibson could not believe how incredible Kayla's tap sounds were at her very young age! Natasha being a phenomenal tap dancer herself told the audience that Kayla's performance of her routine was close to perfect! This is the best awards to receive as a tap dancer! What a bright future Miss Kayla Coatham has in front of her! Keep working hard!

Amazing Potential!

Alana Fernandez 12 yrs Open Solo "Ain't No Other Man!"
Gary Coburn took the time to speak about Alana's strength at such a young age with the audience as well as the other performers. Gary and the other judges were so impressed with the potential they saw in this beautiful young performer!

Beautiful Face!

Angela Casalino 15yrs Lyrical Solo "I Wish"
Natasha Gibson raved about Angel's pleasant and natural face to the audience as she presented Angela with this award. "Some people are blessed with a beautiful face for the stage, and Angela is one of those people!" Natasha said.

Dynamite Dynamics!

Lauren Langille 16 yrs Open Solo "Would You?"
Lauren wowed all adjudicators with her powerhouse performance of "Would You Like To Dance With Me?"! Adjudicator Katy Spreadbury praised Lauren as she told the audience that Lauren not only knows when and how to project out to the audience but also knows just when to ad the mystery in the dynamics of her performance. not only in the execution of her steps, but also in her facial performance! This is an amazing quality to have and we could not be more proud of Lauren for receiving such a great award!

Adjudicators Spotlight Choreography Award:

Amanda Coatham for the Choreography of Madison Bell's Open solo 10yrs "Small". Amanda would like to send a big congratulations and thank you to Madison Bell, as this award could not be won without the performer!
