Star Catchers - May 25th - 27th, 2007
Star Catchers was Step with Style Dance Productions last competition this season! All dancers are to be congratulated as all have done an amazing job!
There were many tough categories, and SWS performed very well earning marks of Gold, Platinum as well as Diamond! Gold 80-85.99, Platinum 86-91.99, Diamond 92-100 SWS is proud to announce our competitive team won over 13 first place awards, 12 second place awards, and 7 third place awards! Well done at a very tough competition!
Not only did SWS earn many placements and specialty awards, but dancers on the competitive team also won choreography awards, scholarships and Diamond awards!
Specialty Awards
In order to receive a specialty award a dancer or group must take make quite an impression on the adjudicator. Every adjudication the selected judge chooses the routines that caught their attention and presents the awards.
These awards could be given for a number of reasons, but any dancer or group that receives a specialty award should feel very honoured! The judge takes time to explain to the audience why they thought the dancer or group of dancers stood out to them. Dancers on Step with Style's competitive team received numerous specialty awards at Dance Odyssey! Congratulations to the following dancers and groups!

Madison Bell Open Solo 10yrs - "Small" Congratulations for the Costume design as well as choreography!
Careful Feet!
Trinity Coatham Novice Ballet Solo 5yrs - "Little Doll" Trinity received this award for her attention to her feet during her ballet solo Judges commented on how careful she was with her feet throughout her solo!
Cutie Pie!
Trinity Coatham Novice Tap Solo 5yrs - "Baby Keep Smile'n" Trinity was so adorable with her smile out there judges couldn't resist to give Trinity the Cutie Pie award for her cute face!
Clean Crisp Taps !
Kayla Coatham Novice Tap Solo 7yrs - "Kansas City" Kayla did a wonderful job with her feet throughout her tap solo. Not missing one sound she had beautiful rhythm that everyone could hear!
Nice Tap'n!
"Don't Worry Be Happy" Novice Tap Duet 5yrs - Megann McCandless and Trinity Coatham did an amazing job out there in there last competition! Great sounds, rhythms and faces too!!!

Angela Casalino Tap Solo 14yrs - "Fighter"Angela gave an outstanding performance Saturday afternoon! She is the full package! Sounds, style and performance!
Attention To Detail!
"I Need More" Jazz Small Group 15yrs - Intermediate and Senior members of our competitive team did an incredible job Saturday night! With every small detail head, shoulder, hand, arm etc accounted for! Great work ladies!
Rhythm Plus!
Aly Niznik Tap Solo 19yrs+ - "Just Beats" Aly hit every single sound and rhythm in her solo. Aly was not just dancing Saturday night she was making music! Great Rhythm work!
Together We Tap!
"Steam Heat" Tap group 8yrs - Junior members of our competitive team; Kayla Coatham, Amy Cornish, Paige Cornish, Kristina Drazso, and Kylie Puddicombe did a fabulous job! Their tap routine was very precise and together! Great team work ladies!
Excellent Expression!
Madison Bell Lyrical Solo 10yrs "Concrete Angel" - Madison reached out from the stage and right into then hearts of everyone watching! Not only did she make quite an impression on all judges but she also impressed many audience members! It is a dancers' greatest moment when someone you do not know is moved by your performance and remembers you. Many members of the audience not affiliated with SWS commented that Madison's performance made them cry! This is a sign of a great dancer! Congratulations Madison your dancing not only is beautiful but you are making people think and feel!
Hide and Seek
Lauren Langille Jazz Solo 16yrs - "Ring The Alarm" Lauren received this award for her strong entrance to the stage! Judges commented on the unique beginning and entrance of her solo!
Queen Of Turns!
Angela Casalino 15yrs Jazz Solo "Super Star" - Angela did an incredible job on all of her turns performed within her jazz solo! Judges could not get over how great her centre and balance was throughout such difficult turning combinations! Congratulations Angela!
Diamond Awards!
In order to receive a Diamond award a performance must receive a score of 92 marks or higher from every judge. Diamond awards are very rare and SWS was proud to receive four different Diamond Awards! Congratulations to the following dancers:
